ABOUT US

Adapas is a sovereign humanitarian collective, founded in Glasgow and launched in May 2023.  We are completely independent of any political party, political ideology, economic interest or religion.

We are now releasing the second draft of our new Scottish Constitution for public feedback which you can find linked below.

The ambition of this document is to continue the citizen based dialogue, and create a comprehensive Constitutional document, designed to empower communities from the ground up.

It is a Constitution which will enshrine; in perpetuity; not only the rights and responsibilities of every single sovereign citizen, it will enshrine children's rights in law, the sentience and rights of animals, our planet and outline the basis for systems of Governance which will facilitate this move.

What we propose will shift the power dynamic in this country from a centrally controlled representative democracy, to a community controlled direct democracy, ensuring we will always have a voice; a tangible route to directly engage with the democratic system and the decision making processes which directly affect our daily lives; something desperately missing form our current structures.

The British political class are so detached from working people and so completely lacking in vision, that voter apathy has become a real danger, and yet, simultaneously, the conversations which are taking place, the length and breadth of this country, point towards a tangible concern among people; that tackling this abject failure of our political system, has never been so important.

In recent years working people all over the country have struggled with a cost of living crisis primarily driven by; interest rates, food and energy costs. And yet, as people struggled to pay their mortgages, profits at the UK's four big banks hit approximately £47 billion, Lloyds Banking Group, Natwest, Barclays raked it in and HSBC, doubled their profits to £27 billion, a record figure for the bank.

As children went to school hungry and people struggled to put food on the table, the worlds biggest food companies delivered record dividends, Hedge Funds hit the jackpot by exploiting war, speculating on grains, oils and fertilisers, and the profits at Britains biggest supermarkets soared, with our largest supermarket Tesco more than doubling their profits.

We had pensioners freeze to death because they couldn’t afford to heat their homes, as oil and gas suppliers filled their boots. In 2022 BP reported record profits; over $27 billion. Shell's profits increased to £32 billion, the company's highest profits in their 115-year history and British Gas also reported a bumper year in 2023 as their profits soared by 889%.

We are not in a cost of living crisis. We are in the middle of a well planned, ruthlessly executed, corporate sponsored and politically enabled; swindle: and there is no political appetite to challenge this obscene behaviour, and no institutions to challenge their failure to do so.

We are currently developing ideas for a Manifesto which will fuse with this Constitution and present a new vision we hope will connect with the many small and beautiful independent; independence parties, also calling out this failure of governance and present a real opportunity for the Scottish people to usher in independence and genuine change at the 2026 Scottish elections.
