NET ZERO
The entire Climate Change narrative, as a whole, is incredibly vague, and there is no concept; more vague, than Net-Zero.
Technically, the gold standard for Net Zero would be; a company
presenting a net-zero CO2 balance; on paper; by their own predetermined timeline.
This doesn’t actually require them to reduce their CO2 emissions at all, as long as they can offset the carbon they generate by planting trees or by utilising some other form of carbon offsetting.
Most large companies have now, very publicly declared; bold, ambitious and moderately heroic climate targets, with pledges to significantly reduce, or even remove all their contributions to global warming, completely. However, several recent studies have shone a less than flattering light on our; formerly rapacious, now born again benevolent; corporate leaders, who are leading the charge for a greener world.
One study found that 10,000 publicly listed businesses were responsible for 40% of all climate warming emissions.
Another study evaluated the transparency and integrity of climate pledges, in particular 25 companies who have made, these very public, very high profile pledges. The report evaluated the quality and credibility of their proposed carbon reduction approaches.
21 of the 25 companies evaluated were reported as having; low integrity or very low integrity. The vast majority of companies were not reducing their own emissions, they were relying on offsetting their emissions, indeed the report found that 24 of the 25 companies assessed; had set headline climate targets that are completely reliant on carbon offsetting, which technically gives corporations a license to; well, just continue as they are.
A further study found that the climate action taken by Europes eight largest airlines, also lacked transparency and integrity. Reports included; fraudulent claims that customers can fly carbon neutral, based on the corporate purchasing of, what was described as; poor-quality carbon offsets. The report also found that Air France was purchasing carbon offsets at €8 per tonne of CO2 before selling them onto their climate conscious customers, looking to conscientiously offset their own personal footprint, for €30 per tonne.
In an interview the, newly installed, Canadian Prime Minister and former former UN special envoy on Climate, Mark Carney stated; the goal of net zero is the greatest commercial opportunity of our time, and with a 375% mark up, Air France would undoubtedly concur. The entire Net-Zero market is being driven by these very corporations and the vast majority of these corporations are based in the G7.
What Carney and his corporate partners are looking for is a: high quality offset; which he states will mainly come from emerging and developing economies. Offsets like the type Green Resources supply. Green Resources is a plantation forestry company, it has carbon-offset forestry operations in Mozambique, Tanzania, and Uganda and is mainly funded by the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries (Norfund) which is owned by the Norwegian State and the Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation (Finnfund) which is owned by the Finnish State.
One of their offsets, which; under a licensed land agreement with the Ugandan government, seen upwards of 8,000 indigenous peoples lives and livelihoods destroyed. This included, forced evictions, people denied access to land, vital for growing food and grazing livestock, they faced water and food insecurity and their communities were disconnected from spiritually important cultural sites. Also many people reported being subjected to physical violence, with reports of villagers being arrested by police and soldiers for trespassing on; Green Resources land, among a multitude of tyrannical activity, directly connected to the arrival of carbon offset projects on their territories.
There are many such reports from Green Resources operations in Tanzania and Mozambique and despite protestations from many environmental organisations including the World Rainforest Movement and Friends of the Earth, the UN Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), which operates under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), has certified and accredited the operation.
Now, operating without borders, and in the name of saving the planet, our kleptocratic ruling class are placing the burden of their calculated corporate emissions onto poorer countries and those least responsible for greenhouse gas emissions. The Net-Truth of what is at the core of this section of the fraud, is an incredibly cruel agenda, and nothing more than a shameless land grab or a new Climate Colonialism as it is being hailed.​
